SPECIES Passer montanus
ORIGIN The Eurasian Tree Sparrow's native range encompasses most of temperate Eurasia and Southeast Asia, and they are known as the tree sparrow in those regions. They were introduced to North America in St. Louis, Missouri, in the 19th century, with around two dozen birds released in 1870. These birds came from Germany as part of a larger project to enhance the native North American avifauna.
